That’s basically it! sorry if the example pictures are blurry after being compressed but I don’t know how it looks until it’s posted haha. Watercolor (bleed) I like to use this one for more cloudy lighting effects, like uhhh magic glowy aura things or idek a street lamp light or whatever. don’t use too much or everything looks too smooth and weird soft gradiented lighting and shadow yada yada. ![]() no more opacity toggling and smudging/ blending like with the marker brush. I also like using this brush when I’m doing color palette challenges because the simple color blocking fits well with the limited color choices (no soft blending or layer modes) while the texture maintains some visual interest.Ī proper painting brush! I’ve started using this one pretty recently but I really like it. when I use this brush for lining I end up drawing in a more simple cute style lol. blends decently when the opacity is turned down, resulting in a kind of mottled textured gradient. like the marker brush, also good for color blocking, but has more tasty Texture™. but hey I think it turns out pretty well. you do need to use the blur tool and smudge tool quite a bit though. but yeah, you can turn the opacity down a bit and block out the shapes, then turn it all the way down to about 3% and shade. tbh this was mostly because I watched a youtube tutorial that said to paint with a square brush instead of round haha. also the maximum brush size is MASSIVE so it’s really satisfying to color in large areasīefore I found a good painting brush, I used to paint with the marker brush by blending with the brush at <5%. I’m also a fan of using it to scribble out the shape of hair (typically short hair, like hanako’s bowlcut haha) instead of lining it. good for emphasizing bright popping colors and hard highlights and stuff like that. Results in crisp clear lines and blocks of color. This one is interesting because you can use it for hard color blocking or soft painting depending on the brush opacity. maximum brush size is only 30 though so wouldn’t recommend coloring with it. the lines come out pretty bold but still like. just really stylised and fun to line with. slightly textured, with some width variation but nothing crazy. can be clean or really messy depends on you really. what most people start out with, can’t go wrong with it. ![]()
